Training Booking Terms and Parent / Guardian Consent – Youth (U18)

Risk Statement: It must be recognised that sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By the participant taking part, you agree and acknowledge that:

  • You are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and you accept responsibility exposing the participant to such inherent risk whilst taking part;
  • The participant will comply at all times with the instructions of the instructors, coaches or safety crew, particularly with regard to handling of boats, wearing of buoyancy aids/ helmets and suitable clothing for the conditions, and all other aspects of safety.

Medical: By submitting this booking, as parent or guardian of the child named as participant:

  • you give your permission to the instructors, coaches or safety crew participating in activities during this event to administer to the named participant first aid treatment if necessary.
  • if the case arises, you authorise the instructors to take the named child to hospital and give your full permission for any treatment required to be carried out in accordance with the hospital’s diagnosis.
  • you understand that you will be notified as soon as possible of the hospital visit and any treatment given by the hospital.

Data Protection: The information given by you on this booking will be used by us to process your registration and for attending to your safety and welfare whilst you are at Yorkshire Dales SC. It will be managed in accordance with our Data Privacy Policy.

Photography: We may take photographs and video footage for use by us in connection with the promotion of the club and our activities and/or for training and feedback purposes. If you object to the use of these images please email the training coordinators – .

Complaints: If you have any concerns about any aspect of the training please discuss them with the course leader at the earliest opportunity and we will do everything we can to meet your needs. If you wish to make a formal complaint please contact the Club Training Principal  or Club Commodore .

CONSENT: By submitting this booking:

  • You are indicating that you have read and fully understand these terms and agree to comply with them.
  • You are declaring that you are the parent or guardian of the child named as participant, and as such you are giving your full permission for the child named as participant to take part in the training.
  • You confirm that you have read through the relevant conditions as appropriate with him/her and that the child understands and agrees with them.
  • You confirm that the particulars given on the booking forms are correct and complete in all respects.
  • You are making a declaration that to the best of your knowledge, the named participant is fit to participate in the training. If you have any concerns you must raise them with the Training Coordinator in advance of the activity.

Training Cancellation Policy

We understand it is sometimes necessary to cancel a booking. As virtually all training events involve some committed costs, the policy for refunds for courses is as follows:

For club training, as the suggested donation is only £10 the club policy is not to refund for cancellations given the effort involved unless there are extenuating circumstances.

For RYA and other courses or events, if the organisers cancel then you will get a full refund. If you cancel then the following conditions apply:

  • Cancellation more than 2 weeks in advance of the start of the course – full refund
  • Cancellation within 2 weeks of the start of the course – 50% refund
  • Cancellation within 24 hours of the start of the course or unnotified non-attendance – no refund.
